(B)lack of Love....

Why do most of my when-in-doubt-outfits tend to be black? Is black the unwritten dress-code of the confused subconscious mind? Or is it a sure shot easy-chic? Is black even a color.. ? I'd learnt in college that black equals 'lack of light' and white is 'abundance of light' ... so technically, its not even a color! Ha, so my obsession with it seems baseless now! Anyway I'm not alone in this 'enchanted by black' situation .. there are others who literally made their lives around the obsession of this color.

First, being half the french population, aren't they always tre-tre-chic in Noir? Then, the endless list of.. Coco Chanel (she introduced the Little black dress, remember?), Karl Lagerfeld (and his forever black suits, biker gloves, shoes and pitch dark shades), Michael Jackson (what an Irony?.. ) oh and also 90% of the rock-obsessed teenage population!

But another celebrity who is so obsessed with a certain 'black-overload-look' that she makes my occasional obsession seem totally forgivable!! Famous for her blog, very rightly name, 'A shaded view on Fashion', here she is ... yet again in a veil of black.. The stunning Diane Pernet! She is a legendary fashion journalist writing for Vogue, Elle magazine, her own blog besides being a fashion Icon! You may not know her, but just a few pictures of her are sure to leave you very very intrigued... she has been dressing like this for years together... every single day of her life since the 80's!

So what is black... a color of mourning, a color of rebellion, a color of protest, a fashion statement, a veil of mystery or simply 'lack of light'? You decide!

Also looking at the givenchy fall '09 collection, one can only fall more in love with BLACK.

Tuning into pearl jam - black......
Much Love! ;)
